Travelers along the Santa Fe Trail used to arrive on horseback or by wagon to this lawless frontier town, where Billy the Kid once evaded a lynch mob. Today, travelers enjoy a more civilized reception at this KOA, tucked into the pinon- and juniper-scented foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
