Raptor Lake Dispersed Camping

Address: Holloman Afb, New Mexico

Cost: Free

About

Dispersed Camping near White Sands National Park. It’s next to the air force base so you’ll hear artillery regularly. No facilities. We stayed for several nights without problems. The lake is great for paddle boarding, but it’s basically runoff from the silica sands of the park so not necessarily great for swimming. Reports from late 2020 indicate the area was closed per the air force base commander. Leave a review if you are in the area and can update on current conditions.

Great place to spend the night. Plenty of lakeside parking.
