There are several sites along this first road. When you first turn off you are still in NP land, but once you cross into kaibab NF you can camp. Lots of spots. We found a private place that literally backed up to the barbed wire fence for the park and could see the bluffs of the north rim from our site. Beautiful. Your basically in the park.

Great spot, road is a little washed out but no issues with 2wd low clearance van. 4 bars of service ( Verizon).

Lots of sites once you cross into the National Forest. There’s a pit toilet at the Arizona trailhead if you keep driving for a bit...
