Wall Lake #1818

The Wall Lake Trail is one of the quickest and steepest routes up onto the Flat Tops. Leaving the trailhead just above the Trappers Lake campgrounds, the trail immediately enters lodgepole pine and spruce that were burned in the 2002 Big Fish Fire. The burned area continues until roughly 2 miles above Anderson Lake. Please use extreme caution among standing dead trees. Atop the plateau, the trail meets Oyster Lake Trail (#1825) [http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recreation/hiking/recarea/?recid=40807&actid=50], providing access to the west. Roughly a mile past the Oyster Lake Trail junction the trail reaches Wall Lake. Wall Lake sits nestled below the 12,002' Trappers Peak. The trail stays on the west side of the lake, climbing the "wall" and crossing a saddle into the South Fork drainage.
