The trail ends at an intersection with the Battlement Jeep Trail (FR-847) [https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/whiteriver/recarea/?recid=41179]. Take a right turn to follow the Jeep Trail to the Battlement Reservoirs. Total distance from the trailhead to the Reservoirs is 2.5 miles The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking and Horseback Riding. The Battlement Reservoirs also provide excellent fishing and primitive camping opportunities. The lower part of the Lava Creek Trail crosses through private property. Please respect nearby landowners by staying on the trail and refraining from littering. Stay alert for trail signs and navigation markers. The trail will cross an oil & gas access road several times within the first mile.
