The road to Bahía San Nicolas and the tiny fishing camps of La Ramadita & San Nicolas is one of the great backcountry off-road trips of Baja, particularly the road heading north up the eastern side of the Bahía Concepcion peninsula to the gingro camp of San Sebastián Cove. It is vast and compelling, teeming with seabirds and fish, and exploding with sunsets and sunrises each day. The road is not for the faint at heart (air down, bring supplies) and there are no services or amenities of any kind, but the reward for making the journey is the singular magic of Baja solitude. I would feel terrible for sharing this spot if there wasn't 100 km of empty shoreline in every direction.
