Snake River Canyon Park

Address: Twin Falls, Idaho

About

Along the North rim of Snake River Canyon just north of Twin Falls, ID, off an asphalt road named Shoshone Falls Rd. Many dirt road turn offs to choose from. (Most are deeply rutted and a high clearance vehicle is advised!). At the start of Shoshone Falls Rd, right where it intersects with US-93, there is a BLM sign that says, "Snake River Rim Recreation Area". You can camp anywhere off this road for free. I couldn't find a limit on how long one can stay, but I didn't notice any enforcement either. Three sheriffs were parked together at the end of the road chatting and just waved at me. They did a few drive-bys throughout the night, but it appeared they were just watching the area, as we were not bothered at all. At the end of Shoshone Falls Rd, it changes names to Canyon Dr, by taking a sharp turn to the left. At this point there is a wide turnaround for larger RVs. DO NOT continue past the turn around, down Canyon Dr., It becomes a steep small private Rd, with no turn around. (Learned this the hard way.). Seen a few dirtbikers and hikers around this morning, but relatively quiet area. Great place to stay if you want to visit the Shoshone Falls, or are just passing through Twin Falls. Please practice LNT principles, so we can all continue to enjoy these lands!

I wanted to stay here, but there were no camping signs. Cool for a spot to hang out during the day.

You can absolutely not camp here, unless you want a knock at 4 am. Very nice cops though.

Roads are definitely deeply rutted in some areas, but I made it going slowly. I stayed here for several nights, and even saw a few...

Unfortunately, you can no longer camp here. It would have been a cool place to stay. Who knows maybe BLM will open it up again for...
