Aviation Lovers

I'm obsessed with all things airplanes & aviation. This is a gorgeous spot to watch the planes takeoff & land all day. Beautiful sunset & sunrise, the mountains surround the entire area. No one bothered me at all during the day & night. The stars were GORGEOUS! There are no amenities... no campfires allowed. It's just a dirt lot right next to Runway 09/27 at KTEX airport. Plenty of room for pups to roam around. Please take care of this land. KTEX is daylight ops only, so airplanes won't be flying all night and keeping you awake. When you're heading to the airport, you'll take a left onto a dirt road (Airport Service Road). 2WD is fine. A little ways down, you'll see an airport runway access gate on your right side, keep driving. You'll come to a fork in the road, go right up onto the hill (left takes you done to airport ops center). There is a decent uphill grade to get to the very level dirt lot. There was a jet fuel truck that drove down the airport service road on a weekday, but he went to the runway access gate and didn't come down this way. I would not come here in anything bigger than a truck camper or 23' van, as turning around could be a hassle. 4 bars Verizon LTE. Enjoy! 😌
