Great view of Shoshone Falls. Many side roads to venture. BLM land. No signs posted. Road is a bit rough and rutted. Go slow. No low clearance vehicles. If wet conditions, wouldn't recommend unless 4x4. No shade, but quiet and comfy.
“Beauty and the Beast” Intertwining trails are confusing and rocks and ruts line them ALL (see pic). Off-road and dirt bike playground. There is a day use park to the left of the road. The signs are meant for it, not the area to the right (the falls side). I made it to the rim, which is tremendously breathtaking, and was immediately accosted by no less than 100 flies in my van (NOT AN EXAGGERATION). My mistake was taking the first trail I saw. And although the path was less jarring and much shorter down the road, the flies were just as bad, but the view was even more stunning. However, while I like to think I’m pretty adventurous, I lasted an hour and drove to Walmart. The flies are what put me over. Beast - 1:Beauty - 0. If you decide to try it, I suggest going down the road until you see a rounded section of dirt on the right (see pic) and turn in there. Go straight to the rim, a few hundred feet. CAUTION: DO NOT enter at night unless you walk ahead and are damn sure you know where the edge is! The path ends at a 500ft cliff, hence the jaw dropping view. I would really suggest going in by foot, taking your pics and vamoosing. Best wishes and safe travels.
