Hands down, this spot is the BEST for a variety of reasons. 1) you’re right on the water. 2) if you have Starlink, the connection is amazing and the sky is clear of trees in this cove. I took video calls and worked all day without service disruption. 3) the clear water is great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding. 4) if you like a little bit of company but don’t want a whole campground, this is a good balance. There are about 4 other sites nearby. We met a tent camper, a mini skoolie camper, another vanlifer, and they’ve all been a joy. 5) there’s a pit toilet which is nice if your rig doesn’t have a toilet. 6) we got to watch some loons in the cove Cons: the roads are a little rough to get down here and you might get turned around if you rely on cell signal for navigation. There are leeches in the water!

We returned to Moosehead Lake over the weekend and gave this site another chance. Campground is difficult to find- over 7 miles if accessing from Casey Rd. There is a second way in and it’s a little more than 5 miles in from that access point. Once there, the campground has three authorized campsites with picnic tables and fire rings. There is a pit toilet which was clean. No fee as it is first come first serve. The campground also has a boat launch and extra parking spaces for those using the site to boat to the remote island campsites. When we arrived, there were two RVs parked to “reserve” sites for later in the week. The one family there told us that the owners wouldn’t be back for days so we stayed a couple of nights. Beautiful sunsets and heard the loons calling. One bald eagle sighting. Beach area is very rocky and not sandy at all. Water level was down 4 feet when we visited.

We couldn’t find this camping area.

We visited on the Monday night after Labor Day weekend. It was empty and clean. There are about 6 spaces for camping, each with a fire ring. You will need to drive down about 5 miles of dirt road to reach the site. There is a single vault toilet available and cellular coverage is spotty but we had coverage with ATT.
