About

Established in 1896, D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery, formerly Spearfish National Fish Hatchery, serves as a living fishery museum dedicated to fish culture and resource management. The hatchery was constructed to propagate, stock, and establish trout populations in the Black Hills of South Dakota and Wyoming. In addition to propagating trout for tribal lands in South Dakota and Eastern Montana, D.C. Booth is home to that National Fish and Aquatic Conservation Archives. Grounds are open daily year round from dawn to dusk. Venues are open for tours seasonally, typically May 15-September 5.
