About
The Mountain View Grand Resort & Spa, built in 1865 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 2006 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2004.
Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America.
With unlikely beginnings on a rainy night in 1865, The Mountain View House built a reputation for warm hospitality and spectacular surroundings. A stagecoach en route to Montreal hit a muddy rut and overturned near the Dodge farmhouse. Its passengers found such a gracious welcome at the Dodge home that they prolonged their stay. The following summer, the group returned and convinced the Dodges to open Mountain View House, which the family owned until 1979. Closed in the 1980s, it reopened in 2002 after a $20 million restoration that enhanced its classic beauty and, at the same time, added a variety of beautiful new guestrooms and suites as well as the full-service Mountain View Spa, which offers a 360-degree view of 57 breathtaking mountain peaks.
