The PO Saddle Trailhead provides access to the Summit Ridge - Western Rim National Recreation Trail #1774 [http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/wallowa-whitman/recarea/?recid=51723] and the southern end of the Hells Canyon Wilderness [http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/wallowa-whitman/recarea/?recid=79467]. The facility is a combination trailhead and horse camp with sites for tents or pull-through truck and trailer camping. A spectacular view of the canyon is found across the road.
