About

The Cincinnatian Hotel, built in 1882 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1999 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. When it opened in 1882, the Palace Hotel quickly became a jewel in the Queen City's crown. A stunning French Second Empire structure, it showcased opulent features such as a grand walnut and marble staircase and novelties such as elevators and incandescent lighting. Renamed The Cincinnatian Hotel in 1951, this local landmark faced the possibility of demolition in the early 1980s; however, it was spared and underwent a $25 million renovation that included a soaring eight-story sky-lit atrium. In 1987, 105 years after its premiere, The Cincinnatian Hotel reopened as a luxury hotel, combining Old World charm with contemporary flair.
