About

The Hermitage Hotel, built in 1910 and a member of Historic Hotels of America® since 1995 was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. Historic Hotels of America is the official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation® for recognizing and celebrating the finest historic hotels across America. Opened in 1910, The Hermitage Hotel was Nashville's first million-dollar hotel. Billed as "fire proof, noise proof, and dust proof," the hotel served as the headquarters for the suffragette movement in 1920, when Tennessee cast the deciding ballot giving women the right to vote. Reopened after a $19 million renovation on Valentine's Day 2003, The Hermitage showcases restored architectural details, and it is outfitted with 21st-century amenities to please the most discerning travelers. The hotel's new grand foyer ushers guests into one of the most beautiful public rooms in America-the stunning lobby with its stained glass ceiling. Over the years, famous visitors have included U.S. presidents as well as cowboy star Gene Autry and his horse Champion.
