Red Dirt Reservoir Recreation Area

Red Dirt Reservoir is located about 40 miles east of Yampa in the Gore Pass area. The area offers dispersed camping around the reservoir. Some of the recreation opportunities in the area include fishing in the reservoir, hiking, mountain biking, and viewing scenery. The area was burned in 2018 by the Silver Creek Fire and some of the dispersed sites have been closed. There are no longer any restroom facilities. There is no trash collection or drinking water available, please pack out your trash.  It is managed by the Yampa Ranger District.
