Blackwell Island provides boat access to Coeur d Alene Lake and the Spokane River. This popular site hosts over 40,000 annual visitors and features 4 boat launch lanes, 130 vehicle-with-trailer parking spaces, 34 single vehicle parking spaces and 520 linear feet of boarding and short term moorage dock. Additional facilities include a reservable group picnic shelter, individual picnic units and an easy one-quarter mile elevated boardwalk trail along the Spokane River with wildlife viewing decks. An on-site native garden featuring north Idaho native species educates visitors about the connections between people, plants and pollinators. The site and facilities are fully accessible for those with disabilities. A daily fee of $6 is charged for the site. Season passes are also available for $40. Unoccupied vehicle parking limited to 72 consecutive hours with appropriate payment. Blackwell is open seasonally from the Thursday before Memorial Day to early October.
