South Padre Seashore

Address: South Padre Island, Texas

Cost: Free

About

Dispersed camping allowed o. The beach. You just must stay out of the dunes to protect sea turtles and other wildlife! (Heard it’s a $1500 fine for parking on dunes) we paid $12 to enter at access point #5 but I’m fairly sure the ones farther down are free. We stayed a few nights and it was lovely. All dry camping and please pack out all trash even though garbage cans are provided (the wind blows trash everywhere) check tide charts, but we found it easy to find a spot safe and out of the surf. Four wheel drive recommended for pulling a rig off the sand. We saw several rigs get stuck in places where the sand was soft.

Most beach access points were covered in sand dunes when I was here. Otherwise would be great.
