About

Stayed here one night (just to sleep). We wanted electricity to run our A/C, and this place did not disappoint. Just minutes off I-40, but a sweet escape from the highway. Very little noise or light pollution and awesome views of the Milky Way. Close to a lake (though we never saw it). Beautiful wildflowers, semi-private, spacious campsites with fire pits and picnic tables. 60 to choose from, and many have shade. Solid cell service for AT&T, but nothing for Verizon. We didn’t check out the bathrooms, but apparently they have nice showers. Water and electric spots are $15 / night. We pulled in around 10 pm on a Wednesday, and found the place almost empty. Never spoke to anyone and put our cash in the drop box on the way out. We would definitely return! To get here: Drive 18 miles east of Groom, Texas, on I-40, take exit 128, and go north 3 miles on Farm Market Road 2477. When you come to the fork in the road, take a right toward the overnight campgrounds (if you go straight, you’ll end up at the day use sites).
